Venue and Travel
Conference Venue
The Norwegian School of Economics (Norges Handelhøyskole - NHH) is located at Helleveien 30, 5045 Bergen. It is a short commute from the city center, where most hotels are located at. The conference and related activities will occur either at NHH or in the city center. For ease of access and a full experience, we recommend staying in the city center. Enjoy your visit!
In June, Bergen offers a mildly warmer climate, albeit with its signature maritime feeling. Daytime temperatures typically range from 12-18°C, and while Bergen is known for its rainy disposition, June usually promises longer dry periods. As a suggestion, delegates might consider bringing along a light jacket and perhaps a compact umbrella – always better to be prepared!
Bergen is the second-largest city in Norway, boasting nearly 300,000 residents. Historically significant as the country's former capital, the residents of Bergen hold a deep sense of pride in their city. The currency used is the Norwegian Krone, but you can expect to pay by credit or debit card in most places. Although Norwegian is the official language, a large number of residents are fluent in English.
Visa and Entry Requirements
When planning to visit Norway, the visa requirements vary depending on your nationality and the purpose of your visit. Norway is a member of the Schengen Agreement, which allows for border-free travel between 29 European countries for short stays.
For citizens of countries outside the Schengen area, the requirements depend on whether the country is on Norway's visa-exempt list. Citizens from visa-exempt countries can travel to Norway and other Schengen countries without a visa for short stays. However, if you are from a country that does require a visa, you will need to apply for a Schengen visa.
If you need to apply for a visa, please visit the UDI website and if need of help, contact us at [email protected].
Hotels
We have secured special room rates, including breakfast, for IAME 2025 participants at the Clarion Hotel at different locations in the city. Please note that to benefit from these negotiated rates, reservations must be made before the specified deadline. Additionally, bookings must be completed through the link provided below.
Make sure to make your reservation before the due date and using the link below the options. Also note that you must change the deafult number of guests (2) to 1 if you are travelling alone. That will reduce the price of the room to the negotiated rate.
A credit card is required to reserve the room. However, your card will not be charged or blocked with the amount until you check-in in the Hotel

With daily trips operated by VY from Oslo S to Bergen, each taking approximately 7 hours. Note that the night train, departing at 23:00, is usually the most economical option. It will arrive at Bergen City Center by 06:30.
Taxi
The most efficient, yet pricy option. A taxi may charge you from the Airport to the city center from 600 to 850 Norwegian Krones (approx. 50 to 80 USD) and will take you across in 15 minutes.
From to the city center to NHH, you may be charged from 200 to 300 Norwegian Krones (approx. 20 to 30 USD).
You may find taxis at the Airport, train station, Bergen Theather, Bryggen and at the gas station by NHH. If you are not close to these places, you can either order online (0700, NorgesTaxi), or call them at 07000 or 08000. You may also ask at the reception of your hotel for assistance.
Airport Shuttle (FlyBussen)
Buses run regularly from the airport to Bergen City Center and vice versa. Conveniently, they stop near many of the hotels in the city center. Tickets can be purchased with a credit card either at a vending machine at the airport exit, directly from the bus driver, or online through their website.
A ticket from the airport to the city center costs approximately 169 NOK (around 16 USD) and will transport you to your destination in about 30 minutes. The route includes stops close to many hotels.
Light Rail (Bybanen)
Using the Bybanen (light rail) is the most economical and convenient travel option. Tickets can be purchased through the Skyss ticket app or at a ticket machine located at the airport exit. At these machines, you have the option to either print a physical ticket or link the ticket to your contactless credit/debit card.
To access the Bybanen station, descend the stairs right outside the airport exit. A one-way ticket costs 45 NOK (approximately 4 USD) and allows for 90 minutes of travel on the Bybanen and city buses without restrictions. As the light rail and buses are operated by the same company, Skyss.
To reach the city center from the airport, take the Bybanen to its last stop at Byparken. For travel to the airport, use Line 1 in the direction of Bergen Lufthavn.
Buses
NHH is well connected to the city center via buses. You can use the same ticket app or the ticket machines available for the light rail to purchase your bus tickets. Please note that ticket machines are less common in the city. Alternatively, you can pay the bus driver directly with a credit/debit card, though this option is slightly more expensive. Similar to the Light Rail, a one-way bus ticket costs about 4 USD and is valid for 90 minutes.
If you are in the city center and need directions, Google Maps can help you find the quickest bus route from your location. For reference, the buses that stop at NHH are: 3 Støbotn, 4 Flaktveit, 12 Løngborglien, 16E Øyjorden, 19 Åsane Terminal, 37, 39. Look for the bus stop labeled Handelhøyskole.
